celebrations

The last couple weeks have been full of hard work and time planning two big events that turned out wonderfully!! First off, our church pulled off its first fundraising dinner in an effort to raise money for a building of our own. Over forty volunteers devouted their time to setting tables, folding napkins, arranging flowers, chopping fruit and vegetables for a formal dinner.

After working in the kitchen for 8 hours preping the food, I have a whole new appreciation for catering!
I was encouraged and impressed to see the dedication poured into the whole event and I must say that members of our church were looking better than ever :) About 150 showed up to be apart of the evening and for the most part, everything went smoothly. We were able to raise over $20,000 in one evening--praise God! It was especially sweet for me to see people serving one another and our guests in a unified vision.

The second big challenge was pulling off a surprise 30th birthday celebration for Tim. My lunch hours over the last month consisted of numerous calls to friends and family to plan the party at Tim's parents house. The biggest challenge was delaying Tim the day of the party after work--so I baked a cake to buy time (which truly annoyed Tim :) but thankfully it was all worth it because he was totally surprised when he walked into his parent's living room and saw a room full of 30+ friends and family all gathered to celebrate his b-day.
I was proud of everyone for doing such a good job keeping the plans a secret.

WOW- the fundraiser was quite a piece of work! Just hearing about you working 8 hours in a kitchen kind of makes me tired:) Did you learn to cook anything new? I'm so glad it was such a success.
Tim's party must have been such a blast- wish we could be there to celebrate with you. Way to go Jess, I bet Tim really appreciated it and felt appreciated; what a wife!

Jenelle
